Be Still: a white dove rising through a night sky full of stars
Be Still, 12 ร— 12 in

I've been told I'm too optimistic, too romantic, a head-in-the-clouds kind of person... as if that's a bad thing.

I think the world needs more of us. The dreamers are the ones who bring heaven to earth.

So I painted it. Nine paintings that start in a night sky full of stars, come down through the clouds, and land at the edge of the sea. They're made for one wall. I believe heaven is closer than we think, and the best is still yet to come.

Come into the Light: two faces meeting in a kiss among clouds, stars and a crescent moon

It started in the clouds

Come into the Light was the first painting, and I wrote a poem for it. At 16 I met the love of my life and let him go. Three years later I found him again, and today he's my husband. I know a little about heartache turning into bliss.

Where soul and sky meet
Your voice like thunder
Calls me higher...
So heaven fills the empty spaces
And turns my heartache
Into bliss

Glory on the Horizon: a red sunset over the sea, with dripping blues and splashes of pink

Glory on the Horizon

48 ร— 60 in, mixed media

I almost painted over this one. Then my son Zion, who was 3, ran into the studio, asked to "do the spray," and covered my favorite part in pink spray paint. It was exactly what it needed... some wild 3-year-old chaos. Then I saw an ocean, a horizon line, and a faint sunset.

In Horizon's Arms: a woman asleep with her head resting in waves and clouds

In Horizon's Arms

Lost in Your Garden: a charcoal and ink drawing of a woman lying back as birds lift off around her, in a carved frame

Back down to earth

Lost in Your Garden

22 ร— 30 in, charcoal and ink, framed

A woman lying back while birds lift off all around her. The only drawing in the nine, and the one that lands you back on the ground.

Nine paintings. One wall.

I painted these to live together, from the starry night down to the sea. Here are a few rooms and a few ways to hang them, each at real size next to a 5'6" woman.

The rooms are illustrations. The prints are placed at their real sizes, 3 inches apart.

*Life size means each print matches its painting, with one exception: Glory on the Horizon is painted at 48 ร— 60, and its print is 40 ร— 50.
