The Art of Appreciating Milestones
Dear collectors, friends, and art lovers,
There are a few milestones in an artists career that deserve a moment to stop and celebrate. With most vocations it is easy to recognize these metrics without much discussion; you get the promotion, the corner office, or the coveted “employee of the year” award. Then, more times than not, you forget about what you’ve achieved and feel the need to sprint towards the next level in life.
Artists, by nature, are among the worst at accepting these flowers in life or taking pause to truly appreciate the journey they’ve taken to get here.
Dimitra has reached one of these milestones in her career by reaching a point where prices on her artwork need to increase. Dimitra being the humble artist she is, I would like to take pause and speak to what this means and why it should be celebrated by artists, fans, and collectors alike!
First, let me speak to the collector, as you deserve to be recognized for your part in this milestone. You have helped ink the early chapters in Dimitra’s growing story. The question I often get in the gallery is, “Will this go up in value?” which I have a natural aversion to because I believe the reason to collect any art should be because you love it, but the truth is art is an asset and this question is important.
It has been almost 10 years since I first had the pleasure of connecting Dimitra’s artwork with clients, and I think this increase is long overdue for how steady she has progressed and evolved throughout her career and for how many people she has reached through her artwork.
For those who have always admired her artwork but have not yet collected a piece for yourself, now is the perfect time to be a part of this story. As a gallery director, the most valuable tool I have to define what art is “good” is you! When you strip away all the pretension that surrounds the art world, what matters the most is an artist's ability to connect. When I see you, the admirer, seeing beyond paint and canvas to the intention within, it is the best indication that that artist will be around for a long time.
Dimitra invites us all along a journey with her paintings; from childhood to motherhood, we have watched her grow and reflect in her work the beauty and strength within us all. I look forward to seeing more connections her work brings and can’t wait to see the many chapters ahead!
In over ten years of connecting clients to art, I have yet to hear someone regret the decision. Price is all but forgotten as soon as they walk out the door, and the best news they can receive is that their artwork just went up in price. Don’t wait until the next milestone to turn the art you love into the art you own.

Celebrating Milestones
Eight years ago, I met Jock on an art tour in Hawaii. His passion for art and unique approach to connecting people with artwork was undeniable.
I am thrilled to have him as our gallery director at the Milan Art Gallery, guiding us as we continue to share beauty with the world.
